Tandoori Chicken| Chicken Perfection Unveiled

Tandoori Chicken

Ingredients for Tandoori Chicken:

1.2 lbs of chicken (preferably bone-in, skin-on thighs or drumsticks)
2. 1 cup thick yogurt

3. 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
4. 1 tablespoon red chili powder
5. 1 tablespoon turmeric powder
6. 1 tablespoon garam masala
7. 1 tablespoon coriander powder
8. 1 tablespoon cumin powder
9. 2 tablespoons kasuri methi (dried fenugreek leaves)
10. Salt to taste
11. 2 tablespoons lemon juice
12. 2 tablespoons mustard oil
13. Fresh coriander for garnish
14. Lemon wedges for serving

Marination:

  1.  Start by cleaning and patting dry the chicken pieces. And cut slightly as we can pour the masala into chicken to allow the marinade to penetrate and infuse the flavors thoroughly..
  2. Take a large bowl add red chili powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder , garam masala, salt and mustard oil and mix it well.
  3. Add yogurt, ginger garlic paste and lemon juice and mix everything evenly, creating a vibrant marinade.
  4. Now take The chicken pieces and marinate them with the prepared masala mix and combine well.
  5. Rub the marinade gently over the chicken, ensuring each piece is well coated. For the best results, let the chicken marinate for 4 hours at least, or you can store it overnight in the refrigerator.

Cooking:

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). If you have a tandoor or charcoal grill, preheat it to a medium-high temperature.
  2. Take the marinated chicken out of the refrigerator and let it the chicken to room temperature at least for 30 minutes.
  3. Now thread the chicken into skewers, give excess marinade to dripping. If you are using an oven, place a wire rack on a baking sheet and arrange the skewers on top.
  4. Now Cook the chicken in the preheated oven for 20-30 minutes or till the chicken is cooked well and has a slightly burnt  from the outer side.
  5. If you want to use a tandoor or grill, cook the skewers for 10-15 minutes, turning infrequently until the chicken is cooked well and gives a smoky flavor.
  6. Sprinkle the tandoori chicken with a mixture of melted butter and a pinch of garam masala at the last 5 minutes of cooking to add an extra layer of flavor which increase the taste of tandoori chicken.
  7. Once tandoori chicken cooked, take out the chicken from the oven or grill and give rest to the dish for some time

Presentation:

  1. Now decorate the Tandoori Chicken on a serving platter, sprinkle with fresh coriander and lemon wedges, you can add lemon juice for taste enhance.
  2. Serve hot, with naan, Rumali roti or normal roti, butter tandoori roti on the side, along with mint chutney or raita for a delightful meal.
