Step 1: Boil the Potato

  1. First take a pot/ deep pan add 2 to 3 cup of water, salt and let it boil on high flame till take 4 Large size potatoes, peel and cut them( cutting size is 4 or 8 pieces), and put them in boiling water to boil properly.
  2. You can take pressure cooker add water, salt, peeled potatoes add into the cooker then let the potatoes about 3 to 4 whistle.

Step 2: Prepare the Potato Mixture

  1. To make aloo tikki divide the potato mixture into 7 to 8 equal portions. Give flatten shape each portion into a patty with using your hand by press them down, make sure that they are of even in thickness to even cooking.
  2. If any type of cracks are visible then join them by rolling the aloo tikki in your palms.
  3. Now place the shaped aloo tikki on a plate and let it set for some time or you can refrigerate them for about 30 minutes. This will help the aloo tikki to hold everything tight and keep them from falling apart during cooking.

Step 4: Cook the Aloo Tikki

  1. Take a frying pan and heat the vegetable oil over medium heat, you can deep fry or shallow fry the aloo tikki.
  2. Once the oil is hot properly, carefully place the aloo tikki in the pan, make sure the pan is not overcrowd. You need to cook them in batches it depends upon the size of your pan and oil how much you are adding. At a time you can fry 3 to 4 aloo tikki.
  3. Cook the aloo tikki for 4-5 minutes from one side and do not touch the aloo tikki till them turn hard from the bottom side, now turn the tikki to the other side and cook for another 5 to 6 minutes by using a spatula make sure the tikkis are not break, or till the aloo tikkis are golden brown and crispy.

Step 5: Assemble the Burger

  1. Now toast the burger buns on a separate pan or in the oven until they are lightly golden then cut it half in round shape.
  2. Place a lettuce leaf or cabbage leaf on the bottom half of each bun.
  3. Next, place a hot aloo tikki on top of the lettuce, then place a slice of tomato, then onions, then followed by adding a slice of cheese.
  4. Now spread some normal mayonnaise or tandoori mayo, if required then, add pickles, ketchup, and mustard to taste.
  5. Finally, place the top half of the burger bun over the cheese to complete the Aloo tikki burger and it is ready to serve.

Step 6: Serve and Enjoy

  1. Cool the potatoes well after that mash them, and do not boil the aloo over otherwise the will be sticky.
  2. You can dip the tikki with bread crumbs and corn flour mixture to give more crispness to the aloo tikki.
  3. If you want more healthy burger then air fry the tikkis or fry them with less oil.
