So today we are going to make Naan Recipe in simple and easy way, which can save our time and will gives us a tasty bread. Whenever we visit any kind of restaurants, 1st thing comes to our mind is Naan, so lets make this delicious recipe.

Naan Recipe is a soft, fluffy Indian flatbread. This recipe made in the Indian subcontinent and is made from simple ingredients like flour, water, yeast, and salt. Is made in the kitchen of Indian Subcontinent, and made in a simple process with ingredients like flour, water, salt, and yeast. Mainly People use their hand to roll it or use rolling pin to rolled out, then cooked it in a hot tandoor, or Iron Tawa to make a puffy texture and delicious flavors.

 Plain Naan:

Plain naan is the most basic and commonly enjoyed naan. It’s so soft, fluffy, and slightly chewy, with a deliciously mild flavor. Plain naan can pairs welly with a wide range of Indian dishes.

Ingredients:

  •  3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt (optional if you are using yeast)
  • 1 cup lukewarm water
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Toppings:

  • Coriander leaves
  • Kalonji Seeds

  • Prepare the Dough:

To start making plain naan, firstly we need to prepare the dough. Take a large mixing bowl, combine 3 cups of all-purpose flour (maida) with 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil or butter. Make a well in the center of the maida mixture.

  • Activate the Yeast:

Take a another bowl, mix 1 cup of lukewarm water, 1 teaspoon of sugar, and 1 teaspoon of active dry yeast together. Stir lightly till the yeast is dissolved well. Now let the mixture to rest for about 5-10 minutes, or until it becomes frothy of measure. This shows that the yeast is active now.

  • Combine Ingredients:

Pour the activated yeast mixture into the well in the flour (maida) mixture. Add 1/4 cup of plain yogurt to the bowl as well (optional). You can use a wooden spoon or your hands to slightly incorporate the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, for creating a rough dough.

  • Knead the Dough:

Once the dough comes together, transfer the it to a light plain surface. Start kneading the dough for about 8-10 minutes, or till  it becomes smooth and give an elastic texture. Add more flour if needed to prevent sticking, but do not add too much, as it can make the naan tight and hard.

Now cover the dough and give it rest for 30 to 45 minutes to ferment it, this process which is going to give us puffy and fluffy Naan. Or you can make this Naan Recipe immediately after 10 minutes.

  • First Rise:

After kneading and rest, divide the dough into a ball, make round balls as much as possible and put it in a greased bowl. Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let the dough rise in a warm until it doubles in size.

  • Divide and Shape the Dough:

Once the dough has doubled in size, punch it down to release the air. Divide the dough into 6/8 equal-sized portions. Roll every portion into a smooth ball, then flatten it slightly with your hands to make an oval shape.

  • Rolling the Naan:

Sprinkle some little amount of flour on rolling pin, roll and stretch the dough flatten and give it an oval shape, sprinkle some toppings and roll it again till a perfect shape.

  • Second Rise:

Place the naan on a baking sheet, and cover the naan with a kitchen towel and let them rise for extra 15-20 minutes. This second rise will help to increase the flavor and texture of the naan.

Flour(maida) dough the much you roll it, they will shrink and become small.they will shrink and become small, that’s why just roll the dough and cook them. Or roll them again when you start cooking it.

  • Cook the Naan: Step 1

Heat a Iron Tawa, make sure the Tawa is not hot extremely, we need just hot tawa. Carefully place the naan on Tawa. After some time bubbles will start coming, now cover the naan with a lid for some time. Then flip the naan to cook from other side directly to the heat, when the upper part burns a little and turn light golden color, take it out.

  • Step 2

Heat the Tawa in high flame, do not heat it over, now take the Naan and before place it in tawa, sprinkle a little water on one side of the naan so that it sticks to the pan and put the watery side in the pan to stick.

When it cooked from one side and bubbles come out, just turn the tawa towards the flame and let the Naan Recipe turn light golden color.

  • Serving: 

Serve the Naan Recipe hot with Chole, Butter Paneer, Kadai Paneer.

Tips:

  • When you start cook the Naan recipe roll it before place on tawa.
  • Sprinkle little water on one side of the naan so that it sticks to the pan.
  • Make the naan always in all purpose flour (maida). Do not use wheat flour (atta), It can ruin the fluffiness of Naan. If you want it in a healthy base you can take wheat flour, but taste may vary.
  • The best way to roll Naan is hand stretched, it can give us more fluffy and soft Naan recipe.
  • Try to make the size of Naan recipe as per your tawa size, it can give space to rise, otherwise naan will not rise perfectly.
  • At the time of cooking naan do not press it by spatula, just leave it to cook automatically.
