This Tomato soup recipe is made from fresh and juicy tomatoes. There is too many way to make tasty tomato soup and it depends on the ingredients you are using. I’m going to tell you the recipe some of them.
This is an easiest and simplest recipe to make, and everyone will love this dish in your family, just try it in my way.
Tomato Soup Ingredients
Collect the following ingredients to start your tomato soup-making journey:
- 500 gm of ripe, fresh tomatoes
- 1 medium-sized onion, diced
- 3 cloves of garlic
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 2 cups chicken broth (optional)
- 1 teaspoon of sugar (optional)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon of dried basil
- 1 teaspoon of dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon of dried thyme
- 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes
- 1/2 cup of heavy cream (optional)
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish
Instructions
1. Prepare the Tomatoes:
- Start by washing the tomatoes under cold water. Remove the cores and cut them into quarters size. If required, you can also peel the tomatoes by blanche them in boiling water for some time and then transferring them to a bowl with ice water before peeling.
- Once the tomatoes are prepared, set them aside for later use.
2. Saute the Aromatics:
- In a large pot , heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the onions and minced garlic and ginger to the pot, and saute until they turn soften and aromatic, about 5 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent the everything from burning.
3. Simmer the Tomatoes:
- Add the quartered cut tomatoes to the pot, along with any juices that may have collected. Stir the tomatoes well to combine with the onions and garlic.
- Pour in the vegetable or chicken broth, make sure that the tomatoes are fully merged. Give the mixture to a light simmer over medium-low heat.
- Let the tomatoes to simmer with covered by a lid for about 20-25 minutes, or till they have softened and start to break down. Stir the tomato occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Vegetable or chicken broth are totally optional, you can add or skip it.
4. Season and Blend:
- Once the tomatoes have cooked down well, it’s time to season the soup. Add the sugar, salt, pepper, dried basil, dried oregano, dried thyme, and red pepper flakes (if using) to the pot. Stir well to combine the spices.
- By using an immersion blender or a regular blender, carefully puree the soup until they smooth and velvety in texture.
- If you are using a regular blender, be sure to blend it in batches and take the lid of the blender off to prevent steam from forming. and take a sieve and strain it and discard the coarse part.
- Now mix 1 tablespoon cornstarch with water, do not let lumps in it and pour into the tomato soup. stir it till you get the desired consistency.
- Taste the tomato soup recipe and adjust the everything if needed. If you need a thicker consistency, you can continue to simmer the soup over low heat till it reaches your expected thickness.
5. Finish with Cream (Optional):
- For a luxurious touch, stir it with the heavy cream until well combined. This step is optional but cream adds richness and creaminess to the soup and it enhances the taste of soup.
- Let the soup to simmer gently for an additional 5 minutes to heat through and meld the flavors.
6. Serve and Garnish:
- Ladle the hot tomato soup recipe into serving bowls. Garnish each bowl with fresh basil leaves for more color and added flavor.
